  • Rafting along Riverside of Indonesia

Indonesia’s many rivers offer some of the best rapids in the world for whitewater rafting enthusiasts of all skill levels. The rivers of Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java, Kalimantan and Bali offer a selection of amazing adrenalin pumping journeys through spectacular scenery and native jungle.

The most popular rapids include the Uyung river in Bali, where a choice of internationally run outfits offer top levels of safety, with well-trained experienced guides and well-maintained equipment. The majority of rides along the Ayung river start to the north of Ubud, with the rapids passing through some of the island’s most spectacular scenery, the home to some of Bali’s most exclusive hotels. In West Java, the Citarik river, which snakes down through the stunning beauty of the Mount Halimun National Park, offers grade 3 rapids while the Pekalen river in East Java offers an equally enthralling ride.

Further afield, try the Alas river in Sumatera, the Mai Ting, Sa’dan, Rongkong and Ranoyapa rivers in Sulawesi. Alternatively, try bamboo rafting on the rivers of Kalimantan.
